The western Coast of Lake Baikal is formed by two mountain ridges: the
Primorsky in the South-West with the heights up to 1746 m and the Baikalsky in the
North-West with peaks up to 2588 m. As the whole sea's West coast and especially
its Northern part is just hardly to reach on land (to mention is the regular bus connections
Irkutsk-Listwyanka and Irkutsk - Chushir), it still stay aside from crowds of tourists.
It surely makes this part of Baikal to be one of the most interesting destinations for trekkers.
Though one has to obtain a permission of the National Park to be allowed to make tours there
- the whole costal zone is a protected area.
